How implant treatment proceeds — step by step

Wondering what the implant treatment process looks like? We explain — each of the 5 stages of treatment in a clear, step-by-step manner.

Step 1 — specialized implant consultation.

The professional consultation consists of 2 stages. During the first, the consulting doctor will conduct a history and examination of the patient's mouth. He will familiarize himself with the patient's needs and expectations. He will also order pantomographic and CT scans and take professional photographic images of your teeth or areas where they are missing.

After a detailed analysis of the conditions in the patient's mouth and jaws, the implantologist can match the type of implant restoration (crown, bridge, denture) and select the appropriate implants. All the patient's data and examinations are entered into special software, where a so-called virtual patient is created. This allows our clinic's team to jointly analyze the condition of the patient's teeth, gums, and jawbone and develop an optimal treatment plan for the patient (sometimes in several versions). During the second meeting, a detailed treatment plan and cost estimate will be presented. In particularly complicated cases and in situations where the aesthetics of the smile is a priority, it is necessary to perform the so-called mockup — that is, a trial smile of the patient. Step 2 — implant placement

After careful planning, there is no need to wait, dental implant placement can be performed in the second step! The procedure is short, taking about 20 minutes. Implants at the Na Podzamczu Clinic are certified by the Clean Implant Foundation, which guarantees that they meet all strict requirements in terms of biological, chemical and physical purity.

Step 3 — integration of the implant

‍The implant must fuse with the bone.  The process of implant integration takes about 4–6 months. If during the procedure it was necessary to perform a sinus lift and/or bone regeneration, the recovery time may increase by 1–2 months.

Step 4 — gum molding

A prosthetic crown attached to a dental implant looks like your own teeth, thanks in part to the well-formed gum.

The molding process involves attaching a special screw to the implant for 2–3 weeks, which molds the gum so that the future crown looks natural. This is also important for the implant itself, as its “longevity” depends largely on the healthy, strong gum that surrounds it.

Step 5 —  fixing the dental crown, bridge, denture

The last step is to set the prosthetic work in the mouth. A new crown, bridge, or denture will replace the missing teeth aesthetically, as well as functionally Modern dentistry allows the work to be made identical to the patient's natural teeth, and in many cases nicer. This is the final stage of implant treatment.

Great! Question: how to start implant treatment?

Go to dental consultation, which is required before starting procedures —  as we described in step 1 of the treatment. During such a consultation, the dental specialist will determine whether the condition of your mouth allows you to begin. If you would rather talk to a specialist instead of reading, we invite you to make an appointment now.
